Steak San Marco 2 lbs. chuck steak or round steak, 1 inch thick, cut into serving pieces 1 envelope Onion Soup Mix 1 can (1 lb) Italian peeled tomatoes 1 tsp. oregano 2 tbsp. cooking oil 2 tbsp. wine vinegar (or red wine dry) Pepper and Garlic Powder to taste In large skillet or roasting pan arrange meat. Place tomatoes on top of meat. Stir together remaining ingredients and pour over meat and tomatoes. Simmer covered 1 1/2 hours or until tender. If put in oven, bake at 350 degrees until tender (approx. 2 hours) Serves 4-6 The sauce it what sets this dish apart from most. We use red cooking wine and like to add an extra can of the tomatoes and serve it over noodles.
